Social discrimination in Nepal

Wednesday, April 28, 2010 by Suraj | 0 comments
Social discrimination in NepalNepal is although a small country has a wide variety of culture, customs and traditions; according to which there is a wide range of discrimination in the society. Our country is a male dominant nation. No matter everywhere we go males occupy the higher position than woman in every field of social, economical and political aspect. So there is discrimination between male and female.

Our society being male dominant prefers more sons rather than daughter. Thinking that son will be the property inherit ant and will look after the property in their older age, they urge that the women should give birth to sons. Daughters on the other hand; thinking that they have to go away to their husbands house are taken care.

In our society there is discrimination between higher and lower caste people. The higher class Social discrimination in Nepalpeople are the business man, government officials, teachers doctors, politicians but the lower caste groups are the sweepers, wage labour, tailors, potters etc. the higher class people have the full authority over the lower caste people and thus they also looks forward the rules and regulation of the society.

Thus Nepalese people are of traditional0concept, so there is discrimination among the people which results to inequality and untouchability. This is also one of the major cause to hamper the unity of the people that slows down our developmental process.
